Some words about our faculty

We pride ourselves as having one of the most well-rounded, friendly and talented faculty in this area.We do our best to make sure that all students receive the best possible dance training. To do this, we have made it a priority to have a teaching faculty that is highly qualified in terms of teaching / dance experience and training. Our teachers have attended many schools, teacher training and professional dance seminars all across Canada, the United States and Europe. It is a priority to ensure the development of a nurturing teaching faculty that is qualified, certified, experienced and /or accomplished as dancers and teachers. We also have teachers and choreographers that have a wealth of experience as professionals in the dance industry, and they are most happy to pass on their knowledge and artistry to the next generation of dancers. Here is a little bit about our current staff.

  • Oleksandra Kondratyeva
    Oleksandra Kondratyeva

    Ms Kondratyeva was born in Kyiv, Ukraine and studied dance at the National Ballet School of Kyiv where in 1998 she received her professional ballet dancer diploma. Ms Kondratyeva’s performing career with the Kyiv State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet for Children and Youth gave her the opportunity to perform in such ballets as Giselle, Nutcracker, Romeo & Juliette, La Bayadere and Swan Lake. She has toured to Germany, the U.S., and throughout Canada as a performer. She performed, choreographed and rehearsed with Canada’s Ukrainian Shumka Dancers for the Annual Shumka Gala and in 2005 Ms Kondratyeva was a part of the Royal Christmas USA Tour with Andrea Bocelli together with the National Ballet of Ukraine. In 2006 she has completed her master’s degree in the theory and critique of choreography and holds an honours teaching degree as a ballet master in choreography and directing from the Kiev State Academy of Professional Directors of Culture and Arts. In 2010 Ms Kondratyeva joined the RWB School Professional Division artistic faculty where she taught ballet, pointe, character and conditioning classes. The RWBS gave her opportunities to be a juror and coach for the First Steps choreographic competition, to choreograph and rehears for Ballet In The Park, Concert Hour Ballet and Spotlight performances. In 2015 she traveled to Tokyo, Japan to adjudicate Kawasaki All Japan Ballet Competition. In 2016 Ms Kondratyeva choreographed a one act ballet for the Spotlight performance utilizing an entire school. An insert of her ballet was performed at the Annual RWB Gala 2016. In 2017 Ms Kondratyeva joined the School of Creative and Performing Arts at the University of Calgary as a sessional ballet instructor. She also was invited to adjudicate at World Ballet Art Competition Canadian Grand Prix 2017 and 2018 in Calgary. In 2018 Ms Kondratyeva began teaching at the Professional Division of the H/W School of Ballet in Calgary. In 2019 Ms Kondratyeva joined the Professional Division faculty of the Alberta Ballet School and became a head ballet teacher of the YYC Dance Project Contemporary Division. The same year she was a lead dance instructor and a choreographer for the Tryzub Ukrainian Dance Society.

  • Micki Surek-Caramelli
    Micki Surek-Caramelli

    Micki was the owner/director of Micki’s Dance Connection from 1987 to 2004 and brings over 25 years of experience teaching, choreographing, directing & performing in the dance industry and has returned to the studio as our Office Administrator.
    Micki is certified through Dance Masters of America and was the recipient of the Ronnie Demarco Jazz Scholarship. She also received a full scholarship to the New England Dance and Gymnastics Program in Rhode Island and the recipient of the Dance Masters of America Scholarship for achieving 100% on her jazz certification exam. Micki has been a guest artist at the Etobicoke School of the Arts and currently travels throughout North America adjudicating dance competitions.
    Many of Micki’s students have trained to Regional & National levels and have travelled the globe receiving numerous scholarships, titles and over-all awards. Many of these students are currently enjoying careers in the dance industry on cruise lines, television and Broadway shows.

  • Natalie Petrella
    Natalie Petrella

    Natalie Petrella heads up our competitive contemporary and hip hop programs, as well as our recreational musical theatre program.  She has been certified Stage associate of the British Association of Teachers of Dance since 1998. Natalie also is an Ontario Certified Teacher, and uses her knowledge and skills from the classroom in the studio to motivate and challenge young dancers. Natalie’s professional credits include; Toronto Blue Jays (choreographer, stage manager, dancer), Toronto Phantoms Arena Football Phantasy Girlz(dance captain), HBO movie “In His Father’s Shoes,”Sky music video “Some Kinda Wonderful “, Electric Circus, industrial shows for MPI, Team Canada (World Showdance Championships, Riesa, Germany), and opening ceremonies for Special Olympics.

  • Cintia Hamer
    Cintia Hamer

    Cintia is a registered teacher of the Royal Academy of Dance holding the R.A.D Teachers Diploma with distinction. As well, she holds the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance for both Advanced Modern and National certificates. Cintia’s past education involves the successful Honors in Dance as a graduates of Ryerson University. Teaching for over 25 years, Cintia has entered many students and all have landed exams with great results. Before owning and operating her own studio for 8 years, she danced professionally with the Atlantic Ballet Company and City Ballet Company of Toronto. During her tenures she toured North America and Bermuda, was seen on television commercials and other dance venues. Cintia has extensive experience choreographing for many Dance Competitions, Festivals and Theatre Companies.

  • Vicki Fletcher
    Vicki Fletcher

    The competitive team is led by Vicki, an accomplished teacher and choreographer with years of competitive dancing experience. As a competitive judge and member of Dance Masters of America Chapter 43, Vicki continues to attend and teach at workshops throughout Ontario. Many of Vicki’s dancers have been recipients of scholarships and have won many titles. A number of her students have gone on to pursue their own careers in dance and theatre. Vicki is certified with Acrobatic Arts as well as being on staff as a course conductor and examiner for Acrobatic Arts.

    Vicki is an amazing dance teacher whose enthusiasm and positive instructional style is loved by all of her students!

  • Michelle Long
    Michelle Long

    Michelle is the owner and director of Micki’s Dance Connection. As a former Elite Gymnast, Michelle heads up the acro/gymnastics program. Michelle trained and competed many years under the direction of Don and Bonita Rope at the Cambridge Kips Gymnastic Club. As well as being a former gymnast and gymnastics coach, Michelle is also a Registered Nurse and Fitness Instructor. Michelle’s own daughters have been competitive dancers at Micki’s Dance Connection for many years and share a love of dance and the joy of helping others accomplish their goals. Michelle’s experience and talent helps set Micki’s apart from other studios.

  • Jennifer Semiwolos
    Jennifer Semiwolos
    Jennifer has been a part of the Micki’s Dance Connection family for 27 years, with the last 20 years of those teaching Jazz, Tap, Ballet & Acro to all ages.
    Jennifer heads up our Level 1 competitive team as well, teaching our younger recreational students which fits right in with being an Early Childhood Educator and a certified dance teacher through Dance Masters of America.
    Micki’s Dance is very fortunate to have Miss Jennifer on our team, as she has a passion of dance and working with children and has the most patience of anyone I have seen!  Her students adore her and the commitment to her students is evident in all their accomplishments, some of which have been featured in TV and theatre productions. Jennifer has also won many choreography awards and her choreography has been featured on many children TV programs. Jennifer works hard to pass her love of dance and the pure joy of dance on to her students.
